Admission (University of Stuttgart)

Steps to Admission
  1. Fill up the ‘Agreement on doctoral studies’ from either
    Department of Physics
         -or-
    Department of Chemistry
  2. Register at C@MPUS
  3. Follow this guide to create and submit your application
  4. Print and sign the ‘Application for acceptance as a doctoral student
  5. Bring to us at the IMPRS Coordination Office:
    - printed & signed ‘Application for acceptance as a doctoral student
    - filled up ‘Agreement on doctoral studies
    - all other supporting documents


    IMPRS will check the completeness of your documents and will guide you to complete any missing documents. We will then advise you on how to submit the full application to GRADUS.
 
What’s next?
  • GRADUS checks your application and forwards it to the faculty you indicated in your application
    (F03 - Chemistry; F08 - Physics)
  • Check regularly your account.
    If there’s a missing document, GRADUS will contact your uni-mail.
  • The doctoral committee of the respective faculty decides on your admission as a doctoral candidate*

    *This may take more than a month as the doctoral committee only meet three times a semester.
      Please be patient: the faculty will contact you once a decision has been made.
Enrollment
  • If your application gets a positve decision, you will receive a letter of acceptance from the doctoral committee
  • Once you receive this letter, you need to begin your enrollment process. Please follow this guide.

    *Enrollment is mandatory for the entire duration of your PhD

 

Admission (Other Universities)

Steps to Admission & Enrollment

Please talk to your PhD supervisor and peers.
We can only assist with the admission and enrollment with our partner university - University of Stuttgart.
You can still join the IMPRS-CMS as a affliated member, whereby you will receive the same amount of support as full members, with the only difference being university admissions assistance.

 

Login to your IMPRS OpenCampus account (MPI-FKF)

We are currently setting up the IMPRS Opencampus. You will receive a notification once the site is up and running.

 

Prepare PhD Thesis Proposal (MPI-FKF)

Things to expect
  1. After you join MPI-FKF, Ms Sabine Lang /Dr.Hagen Klauk will set up a thesis advisory committee (TAC) for you.
  2. After you receive a letter informing who are in your TAC, work together with your PhD supervisor to come up with a thesis proposal.
  3. Submit the thesis proposal to Ms Sabine Lang
  4. (*Upload the thesis proposal to your IMPRS OpenCampus account. ) (*IMPRS Opencampus is currently being set up, so skip this step for now)
  5. Schedule a first meeting with your TAC to discuss this proposal.
    Please ensure that all your TAC members sign this confirmation form after the meeting.
