Facilities on the MPI Campus

In addition to excellent research facilities, the Max Planck Institutes in Stuttgart maintain a variety of services to support you in your daily life. Offices and laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art telephones, computers, etc. The research groups are well known for their world-class experimental facilities and scientific services. The laboratories and the other facilities are state-of-the-art and follow all legal and professional rules of safety and employment protection.

Workshops, the supply store, and computational facilities are accessible for the fellows according to the rules of operation of the institutes. Access to the library is possible through a key system every day of the week for 24 hours. Beside the library service students have also access to on-line journals for 24 hours per day.

The Administration of the MPI and the Coordination Office offer a Welcome Service for guest researchers and Ph.D. students. Besides helping with official errands, assistance in finding housing is offered as well. We own a 40-room guest house where guest scientists and new doctoral students can stay for two months while they are searching for a flat.

The MPI also maintains a private “Kindergarten” on the Campus where children of MPI members including students can stay during the day. During official working hours medical services are provided by two staff nurses and physicians. Young scientists can also have yearly medical check-ups performed by the MPI physicians.
